Promoting Ecological Balance
Sunshine Bricks Receives ‘Green Champion’ Award
Sunshine Bricks Limited, the latest addition to the Mirpur Ceramics and Khadim Ceramics family, located in Habiganj, has been honoured with the prestigious title of “Green Champion”. Its achievement lies in the successful implementation of energy-efficient Tunnel Kiln Technology for manufacturing construction materials.
At the event styled “Fostering Climate Finance Partnership in Bangladesh,” held at the Renaissance Dhaka Hotel in Gulshan on April 25, 2024, the Global Climate Partnership Fund (GCPF) and Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) jointly recognised Sunshine Bricks Limited. The award was received by the group’s Chairman, Mr. Asif Ariff Tabani, Vice-Chairman Mr. Sakif Ariff Tabani, and Director Ms. Ayesha Sanaa Asif Tabani.
Sunshine Bricks Limited produces ceramic bricks and blocks with innovative designs, the first of its kind in Bangladesh. Unlike other factories that rely on black coal, Sunshine Bricks uses natural gas, significantly reducing fuel consumption through European automated technology. Additionally, the factory avoids using topsoil from agricultural fields, mining clay only from selected clay mines up to a depth of 80-100 feet.
The factory’s tunnel kiln technology ensures at least 20 per cent less fuel consumption compared to other kilns in the country. Furthermore, the heat generated during production is repurposed through ducts to dry the raw ceramic bricks and blocks, contributing to eco-friendly construction material production.
Switzerland-based organisation GCPF actively promotes environmental balance by emphasising low fuel consumption and technological excellence. As part of their commitment to sustainability, they encourage new factories in Bangladesh to adopt environment-friendly practices. In recognition of their efforts, Sunshine Bricks Limited received the prestigious “Green Champion” award for being the first environmentally conscious green ceramic construction material manufacturer in Bangladesh.
